8 Easy-to-Learn Popular TikTok Dances for Beginners | If you want to learn how to do all of the TikTok dances you see in your feed as you scroll through TikTok and Instagram, this post is for you! We've compiled the best fun (and clean) tutorials to start with, which you can do alone, with your kids, with your boyfriend or girlfriend, and even as a family. These videos are easy, and we've included a couple of duet challenges at the end that are really fun!

TikTok dances are all the rage right now, and while I was determined not to get pulled into the trend given that I can’t dance to save my life, here I am writing a post about the easiest TikTok dances for beginners. 🙈 My tween daughter has been TikTok-ing up a storm the last several months, and while I’m not sure I’ll ever be comfortable doing body rolls on camera, a little behind-the-scenes practice never hurt anybody, lol.

When I first sat down to write this post, I had absolutely no idea where to start. I didn’t know the names of any of the moves, let alone how to find them on TikTok, because let’s face it: this is my daughter’s world, and I’m just an occasional participant in it. She graciously gave me a little TikTok 101 and provided me with a list of her favorite TikTok dances for beginners (see below!), and while I still have absolutely no idea what I’m doing, I’m definitely making progress.

We sorted these dances in order of difficulty, with a couple of more challenging duets towards the end!

8 Easy TikTok Dances for Beginners

1. UNLOCK IT (LOCK IT) DANCE | @meganellis29

If you’re looking for the easiest TikTok dances for beginners, it doesn’t get any simpler than this! While this isn’t a dance per se given that it’s only one move, it’s a great way to get comfortable with dancing in front of the camera, hyping you up to learn more dances and maybe – gasp! – challenge yourself to learn a duet!

2. THE SHOWER DANCE | @momcom87

One of the biggest challenges I have when trying to learn dances – even TikTok dances for beginners – is that the tutorials are always way too fast for me. I love the way @momcom87 slows this tutorial down as it makes it much easier to learn. Check it out!

3. MY DIRTY LAUNDRY DANCE | @dance_dona

Even though this tutorial hasn’t been slowed down, it’s still easy enough to learn, making it to the top of our list of TikTok dances for beginners. It’s only 6 moves, and while the ‘swing arm’ to ‘arm up’ transition is a challenge for my uncoordinated self, it doesn’t take long to master this one!

4. SOMETHING NEW DANCE | @ninojulia

OMG, this one is so fun! There are lots of variations of the ‘Something New’ dance, and if you’re looking for TikTok dances for beginners you can do with someone else, this is a great one to try. You can start with just the beginning part of the dance and repeat it a few times, and as you become more comfortable you can add the additional moves at the end. The first 4 moves are pretty easy – elbow R, elbow L, shimmy, clap. Give it a try!

5. FLO RIDA LOW DANCE | @maryam.8_

If you’ve spent anytime on TikTok lately, chances are you’ve seen the ‘Flo Rida Low Dance’. It looks challenging because it involves 2 or more people, but when you actually take a moment to watch the clip below, you’ll see that there aren’t a ton of moves and it’s surprisingly easy! This is a fun one to do with your kids, friends, partner…anyone!

6. THE MONEY DANCE | @davidkirby_

While this might not be one of the easiest TikTok dances for beginners, it’s a good one to start with once you’ve mastered the basics and want to move onto more complicated challenges.

7. SAY SO DANCE | @saviragunawan

If you’ve mastered the TikTok dances for beginners above and want a bit of a challenge, this is a great one to start with! There are a lot of moves, but with enough practice, you might surprise yourself and become a Say So dancing queen! I love this clip in particular because she includes all the moves so you can follow along.

8. YOU CAN REALLY DANCE | @derekhough

This last item on our list of TikTok dances for beginners is one you’ve likely seen many times on social thanks to @derekhough. This is a duet, and it’s so much fun. The moves are fairly simple, and if you do a search on TikTok you’ll see tons of variations to inspire you!
