Things You’ll Need
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (plus more for topping)
1/4 teaspoon salt
Dash of ground nutmeg
Place the butter in a large bowl. If you'd like, slice the butter so it's easier to mix.
With a hand mixer, beat the butter until soft and smooth, pausing occasionally to scrape down the sides and whisk attachments. (The butter will clump up in the whisks at first, but it will get easier to mix as you whip it.)
You can also use a stand mixer.
Add the maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg.
Beat the ingredients until combined, or until the maple syrup and vanilla is fully incorporated. The color should be evenly light brown; if some of the mixture is still yellow, continue mixing it.
Enjoy your homemade whipped maple butter immediately. Store any leftover butter in an air-tight jar in the refrigerator. Before using, let the maple butter soften and come to room temperature first.
